Automatic safety systems
Each SR22 aircraft is equipped with integrated safety systems that work passively in the background at all times, assisting and alerting the pilot without distracting or degrading the flight experience.
SPECTRA WINGTIP LIGHTNING
The Spectra™ wingtip lighting is an iconic design with a simultaneous two times increase in brightness. The automatic wingtip illumination - the so-called "glow" - operates up to 300 feet above the surface and above 300 feet automatically switches to a function that maximizes visibility to others, pulsing "wig-wag," giving the G6 an unmistakable presence anywhere in the world, day or night.
KNOWN ICE PROTECTION (FIKI)
Current Cirrus SR22 and SR22T models are available with Cirrus Known Ice Protection. It works on principle that TKS fluid is distributed into critical locations – the leading edges. These are made of a thin laser perforated titanium plate. If necessary, glycol-based liquid is then via pump pushed through the micro pores to form a microscopic anti-icing protective film at the depth of the profile. The new FIKI system has protected vertical stabilizer in comparison with the previous system.
DRAG REDUCTION
Leading edge wing and tail panels have been streamlined and wheel pant tolerances have been tightened to further reduce drag. The result is an airplane that is up to 9 knots faster.
CUFFED WING
Thanks to the well-made aerodynamic shape in connection with powerful propulsion, Cirrus outperforms other aircraft in its category. However, one of the questions in the development was, how to achieve great flight characteristics at slow speeds. The result of the development in cooperation with NASA is a “cuffed wing design”. It consists of two profiles, the first (closer to the wing root) allows smooth flight at higher speeds, the second profile (farther from the root of the wing) ensures good flight characteristics and maneuverability during slow flight.
